Kerry Sewell

School Director & "Noble Firs" Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
I was adopted in Illinois and have lived in Colorado, Boston, San Diego, and finally the PNW. I attended SPU and received my degree in Early Childhood Development. I live with my husband Joe, daughter Molly, our dog Jax, and our bunny Maverick! I have been at the Highlands Preschool since 1997!

Kay Dorje

"Noble Firs" Pre-Kindergarten Assistant Teacher
I was born in Tokyo, Japan and lived there until I was 7 years old. From there, I moved to Illinois, and then finally settled in Issaquah, WA. I've been married for 21 years and have two teenage kids, Kaya, 18, and Ozere, 16. We live in Mountlake Terrace. I was an office manager before working at the Highlands preschool in 2007 for one school year, then became a stay at home mom for the next 18 years. During that time, I volunteered many hours weekly working in my kids' classrooms, and at the senior center. I told Kerry I’d be back to work for her one day when my kids got older, and I feel so fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to do so!

"Douglas Firs" Preschool Teacher
I was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, and have been living in Seattle for almost 7 years now! I graduated from Seattle University in 2022, with degrees in Comparative Religion and Art History! I love skiing, playing piano, spending time outside, and all things arts and crafts. I live in Mountlake Terrace with my husband Graham, our dog Charlie, and two cats Arthur and Pepper! This is my 4th year teaching at the Highlands School!

Sara Rohde-Garcia

"Douglas Firs" Preschool Assistant Teacher
​I have been working at The Highlands Preschool for over 10 years now! I was born and raised in the Seattle/Shoreline area and live in Mountlake Terrace with my husband Ezequiel and our dog Bodie! I have a degree in Fine Arts Photography, and Graphic Design. My favorite things to do are reading, crafting, indoor and outdoor gardening, walking my dog, and being around the people I love!
